Microsoft has confirmed it is investigating reports that its latest release of security updates is causing users' PCs to crash.

Users on the internet have complained about a "black screen of death" when they run the patch on their Windows PCs, causing the machine to fail.

The company said, "Based on our investigation so far we can say that we're not seeing this as an issue from our support organisation. The issues as described also do not match any known issues that have been documented in the security bulletins or KB articles. As always, we encourage customers to review the security bulletin and related knowledgebase articles and test and deploy security updates."

Microsoft urged users who do have a problem to contact the customer support centre.
