Small businesses in the UK will have to invest more in IT as40% carry outtheir own marketing rather than use agencies.
The findings of a survey of 1,000 SMEs, which was carried out by YouGov andsponsored by printer maker HP,suggest that SMEs will have to spend money on printing equipment and invest time and money on developing e-mail, online and social media campaigns.

Emma Jones, founder of home business support organisation, Enterprise Nation, said it is now possible for small businesses to do their own printing. "You can reduce costs by doing it in-house because the technology is affordable."
Small businesses often use agencies to do their marketing, with commercial printers creating their documentation.
The survey highlighted that 79% of businesses rely on printed and online advertising. A total of 40% of these useprint as their main methodof advertising, and 60% rely on online advertising.
