Carphone Warehouse offers cash for old iPhones

Carphone Warehouse is offering to buy customers' old iPhones to help towards the cost of a new one, if they want to upgrade to the new iPhone 3GS.

The retailer is offering cash back of £100 for any size of the first generation iPhone, £170 for the 8GB 3G and £180 for the 16GB 3G.

Online, customers can get the cashback without making a purchase, but if they sell the phone in a store it will have to be done in conjunction with a phone purchase, the company said.

The retailer announced the offer ahead of the launch of the iPhone 3GS. The new OS 3.0 is out today.

Apple unveiled the Apple iPhone 3G S this month.

The iPhone 3GS is $199 (16GB version) and $299 (32GB version).
