Nearly 30% of professional workers in the UK have sent sexually explicit e-mails while at work, a survey reveals

A similar number having ended past relationships via e-mail, and nearly 40% have applied for alternative employment from their work PC.

The findings come despite attempts by many business to clamp down on personal use of e-mails at work.

David Stanley, managing director EMEA at Proofpoint, who commissioned the survey, said, "E-mail is without doubt the most important communication tool of our, or any age, but it can also become a company's worst enemy if its use isn't managed properly."

"It is staggering to see the degree to which e-mail has become the norm for people breaking bad news or dumping their partner," he said.
