
LinkedIn has opened up its platform tosoftware
developersand provided an interface with
Microsoft Outlook.
The social networking site for business users has partnered with
companies including IBM, Research in Motion and most recently
Microsoft, to invest in both functionality and scalability of the
platform.
In Microsoft Office 2010 users will be able to access the
Outlook Social Connector. which integrates business and social
networking feeds into your Outlook.
LinkedIn is the first networking site to support the Outlook
Social Connector and will be available in early 2010. "Our big
belief is that you can be much more effective if you have your
professional network close at hand, and you can leverage your
online identity in the work you do on a daily basis. The Outlook
Social Connector will bring your LinkedIn Professional Network to
where you work - right within your e-mail inbox," said Elliot
Shmukler, director, product management at LinkedIn.
The site has three million UK users. Kevin Eyres, managing
director at LinkedIn UK, said, "With the planned site developments
and the expanding community, the next few years will be as exciting
as the last two. I look forward to celebrating the next milestone
with you all and the other professionals we welcome over the coming
months and years"
LinkedIn recently tied up with Twitter to get users to tweet
their business advice.
