The company that launched Woolworths online could soon resurrect
the retail icon's high street presence.
Shop Direct is considering opening 200 stores with the
Woolworths brand,
according to the Times.
Woolworths appointed Deloitte administrator in November last
year after becoming a retail victim of the credit crunch.
The collapse left thousands of staff, including
significant numbers of IT workers, facing redundancy.
Shop Direct revived Woolworths as an online store in June.
Woolworths.co.uk has been developed around the four most popular
product categories of toys, children's wear, entertainment and
party goods.
