A CCTV photo of a man suspected of stealing laptops from
passengers on the West Coast rail line has beenposted
on the BBC website.
Eight thefts, mainly of laptop cases, have been reported on the
line between Carlisle and Crewe since 3 September, according to the
BBC
report
Andy Cordial, managing director at storage systems integration
specialist Origin, said that although the laptop thief has been
captured on CCTV - and his image published on the BBC news site -
the culprit will be difficult to catch.
"The section of the line on which the laptop thief appears to be
operating - Stockport to Manchester - is one of the busiest outside
of London, with Manchester Piccadilly station offering a lot of
escape routes, and he is going to be difficult to catch, especially
if he changes his appearance," he said.
