Yahoo is committed to grow its operating
marginto 15% to 20% in the next three years
from only 6% currently, saysYahoo CEO Carol Bartz.
Carol Bartz described the
current operating margin of 6% as "terrible, terrible" in a
speech at the American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore, according
to
Reuters.
Yahoo plans to expand its online display ad business in
Southeast Asian markets such as Indonesia and Vietnam, said
Bartz.
Steve Ballmer, chief executive of Microsoft said last week that
Microsoft's 10-year search engine partnership with Yahoo could
extend beyond the US.
Steve
Ballmer
said it would be introduced elsewhere in the world, once it gets
regulatory approval.
The deal, under which
Microsoft's Bing search engine will be used for Yahoo searches and
Yahoo will sell premium advertising for both companies, is yet
to be approved by US and European regulators.
The deal was announced in July and was originally scheduled to
be completed by the end of October, but
Yahoo and Microsoft asked for more time to finalise the
details.
