Volvo has consolidated its IT procurement through an
agreement with Fujitsu for IT services to 20,000 desktops and 1,000
servers.
Volvo previously used a number of suppliers to meet its IT
needs, but the car manufacturer will now use Fujitsu as its sole
provider of IT infrastructure.
As part of the deal, 25 workers at Volvo will be transferred to
Fujitsu offices in Sweden and Belgium.
A further 50 to 60 people will be recruited at offices in Sweden
and Russia.
Fujitsu's new Service Integrator offering will allow integration
of existing services supplied by the different members of VCC
Consultancy.
"The goal is to create an efficient process to ensure that all
requirements from Volvo are met for all deliveries," said Petri
Imberg, CEO at Fujitsu. "Entering as the sole supplier of IT
infrastructure services for Volvo is enormously gratifying for
us."
