Marks & Spencer will start implementing SAP software in its
core systems next year following successful implementation in other
parts of the company.
The project, which will commence early next year, will take a
couple of years to complete.
"Following its successful implementation in finance,
non-merchandise procurement and within international, we will begin
implementation of SAP within our core commercial systems in the UK
in early 2010, with a phased roll-out through to 2012," said a
company statement.
The implementation is part of the retailer's
"2020 Doing the Right Thing" programme, which will focus on
changes in operations, new avenues to market, international
developments and brand communication.
M&S is increasing investment in IT despite reducing its
overall spending. To do this it will reduce spending on
property.
