Microsoft is cutting another 800 jobs, including more than 50
UK jobs, on top of the 5,000 redundancies announced in
January.
"A number of UK positions are affected, representing about 2% of
the 2,700 people currently based in the UK," said Microsoft.
The cuts are in addition to
those announced in January, when Microsoft said it would
eliminate up to 5,000 jobs in R&D, marketing, sales, finance,
legal, HR, and IT over the next 18 months.
The software giant said that it is still recruiting in certain
areas and did not rule out further cuts. "We continue to hire in
priority areas, but also understand that continuing to manage our
businesses closely, as we always do, can mean additional headcount
adjustments," it said.
