Twitter has denied rumours that it is considering adding a
video-sharing facility to the site.
The micro-blogging service was said to be considering adding the
tool, enabling users to share video content.
It is already possible to share videos via third-party
applications, but a new tool would make it possible to send videos
directly via tweets, with recipients being able to download them
straight from Twitter.
Co-founder Biz Stone denied the reports, telling the Mashable
blog, "Haven't read the piece but no video hosting. 140 characters
of text including spaces. You know the drill!"
The company has been considering a number of ways to expand and
improve its service in the past few months, and was recently
valued at $1bn by a group of investors.
There has been plenty of debate over how Twitter will turn its
huge number of users into revenue. There is no current clear
business, but it hasn't stopped interest in the organisation
growing from larger media and telecoms companies.
