The launch of Windows 7 later this month is unlikely to be the
last major operating system release from Microsoft.
Speaking at an even to promote the forthcoming OS at an event in
London the Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said that expectations that
the days of the big software release were fading into history was
premature.
"After we shipped Vista I read in the press that people said it
was the lady great OS release ever. But now we gave got Windows 7
and there are people developing Windows 8," he said.
He added that Microsoft wasn't alone and there were operating
systems in the works from Google, Apple and the Linux
community.
"There is still a long way to go to have voice and gesture
recognition built in and that doesn't exist today," he said.
