Hewlett-Packard has announced that business services firm
EDS, which itacquired a year ago, is to be renamed HP Enterprise
Services.
HP bought EDS in August as part of a $13.9bn deal aimed at
boosting HP's services capability to increase competition with
IBM.
The name change marks the next major step in a year-long
integration of EDS into HP, the company said in a statement.
"Today we are combining the strong services brand equity that
EDS has built over the last 47 years with HP's technology
leadership to become the leading IT services provider," said Joe
Eazor, senior vice-president and general manager at HP Enterprise
Services.
The company also announced a name change for its Technology
Solutions Group responsible for servers, storage, software,
networking and technology services to HP Enterprise Business.
