SAP Business Objects has helped the
Emergency Response Association
(EMA)in the US manage the swine flu pandemic.
EMA, which provides emergency services to hospitals and health
systems in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, needed a system
to determine where medical resources are needed most.
It uses SAP BusinessObjects BI software to collect data from 1.2
million patients annually. With detailed diagnosis information
pulled from 1,300 monthly reports, EMA said it was able to set
specific targets and alarm notifications for when swine flu-related
symptom data exceeded standard deviation thresholds.
As a result, EMA said it could alert local hospitals and
government departments to their discoveries, to help prepare for
the outbreaks.
