Thomson Reuters buys accounting software firm

Information services provider Thomson Reuters is acquiring the tax and accounting software business owned by professional services firm Delloite.

The business known as Abacus Enterprise, based in London, helps companies plan and carry out their compliance. It has over 400 multinational customers across and about 40 employees which will transfer with the business.

"The Abacus products will combine well with our global product suites, and build on our strong and growing position in the U.K. market," said Roy Martin, Jr., CEO tax and accounting at Thomson Reuters.

Thomson Reuters also bought software supplier Digita in 2008.

Digita provides integrated tax compliance, and accounting software and services to accounting, tax, and corporate finance professionals.
