Microsoft has begun its battle to continue selling Word,
afterlosing the case against i4ilast week.
US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas last week
ruled that Microsoft must no longer sell, offer to sell, and/or
import into the US any infringing and future Word products that
have the capability of opening an .xml file.
On 14 August, Microsoft filed a motion in response to the 11
August judgment. The filing is sealed, which means no one is able
to see what evidence Microsoft plans to exhibit.
According to
GrokLaw, Microsoft is being secretive about its appeal. "Even
the exhibits attached to Microsoft's motion are sealed, including
the proposed order, so all we can do is guess. Here's mine:
Microsoft would like a stay on paying the money, while it appeals,
and so would you want that. Whether it gets it from East Texas...
well, stay tuned."
