T-Mobile is using network acceleration technology from F5 and
Bytemobile to support the rise in the use of mobile data due to the
iPhone and the popularity of USB 3G dongles.
T-Mobile, which serves approximately 95 million subscribers
across its European operating companies, is using the technology
from the two companies to increase network scalability,
availability and performance for the delivery of value-added mobile
data services to T-Mobile customers.
The mobile operator will be running an integrated platform based
on
F5 VIPRION on-demand Application Delivery Controller with
Bytemobile's Unison Mobile Internet Platform within the core data
path of its network,
Adrian Hall, chief marketing officer of Bytemobile, said, "The
Apple iPhone, USB dongles, mobile video, and other factors have
caused data traffic on tier-one networks to grow at rates of 10% to
15% per month. "In some cases, 1% to 2% of users are consuming up
to 50% of a network's traffic."
