Microsoft and Nokia are expected to announce a deal this week to
put the mobile version of Microsoft Office on Nokia
smartphones.
Stephen Elop, president of Microsoft Business Division, and Kai
Oistamo, executive VP for Nokia Devices, could announce the
partnership later today in New York, according to US media
reports.
News of the deal has sparked speculation that Office 2010 will
be put onto Nokia's Symbian S60 smartphone platform.
Analysts said the move would be a major strategic shift for
Microsoft, which currently only makes Office for the Windows Mobile
platform.
A partnership with Nokia will give Microsoft's productivity
applications a boost by expanding to another platform.
