Three quarters of IT job recruiters believe that candidates
with additional qualifications have a better chance of being
employed, according to a survey by recruitment websiteThe IT Job
Board.
Some 84% of IT professionals said holding industry
certifications would improve their employment opportunities., and
87% of IT job candidates said they thought that recruiters and
hiring managers would be on the lookout for additional
qualifications when recruiting for jobs in IT.
It is clear that both recruiters and candidates value
certifications, and they can have a huge impact on people's IT job
opportunities, said Alex Farrell, managing director of The IT Job
Board. During difficult times, when
employment is harder to come by and the competition is fierce,
holding additional IT certifications could be vital.
In terms of certifications most valued by IT professionals, 43%
cited Microsoft (MCSE, MCSA and MCT) on the hardware side, followed
by 29% for Cisco CCNA and CCNP. On the software side, 25% of IT
professionals said that the Prince2 certification was most
important, followed by the ITIL Certification.
