These days firms’ IT departments not only have to support the
business, they also have to make a recognised contribution to it by
enabling improved agility and speed giving the business the ability
to move in and out of new markets quickly.
And for those tasked with risk management, today’s global
business dynamics throw up even more challenges.
The economic downturn has produced a dynamic of cost cutting and
IT departments are experiencing a lot of downward financial
pressure. Yet the activities of one group of IT users have not been
curtailed by the recession: electronic attackers. In the recession
hackers are taking opportunity of firms’ IT spending cut backs
which may be compromising their IT security apparatus.
The traditional way of protecting electronic information has
been to implement a variety of IT security technologies designed to
counteract specific individual threats. Yet today’s sources of
electronic attack, or threat vectors, are much more varied and
subtle and businesses need to employ equally more subtle and varied
approaches to protect themselves. It may well be the case that in
order to stay ahead firms needs to tap into the specialist
knowledge of firms who can offer, on a service basis,
cost-effective, counter measures against recognised threats that
reduce risk to the business.
This webinar will aim to highlight how a service approach can be
employed in order to manage IT risks. It will highlight:
- How the down economy has changed the IT security threat
landscape
- What new threats are currently emerging
- The specific dynamics of offering security as a service and the
specific service elements
- How to get value for money from security offered on a managed
basis
- The total cost arguments for a managed service compared with an
in-house solution
- The technology infrastructures and bottom line commitments
required to support security as a service
- The challenges involved in deploying security as a service
- How security professionals can incorporate business objectives
into managing risk
- An end user’s journey in successfully adopting a service
approach to IT security
