Adobe has shut its US offices this week to save money on
operations. But the moveis not that unusual, according to an Adobe
blogger.
The company planned the week-long shutdown in April as a way of
reducing operational expenses - expenses such as power
consumption.
When Computer Weekly contacted Adobe for comment, we were
directed to a blog post by
Adobe employee John Nack which goes some way towards explaining
the reasoning.
He said this is not actually a unique incident, but has happened
in the past.
"Let me first mention that these Adobe shutdowns are nothing
new. I've worked here for nineyearsand the company has done the
shutdowns off and on throughout that time - at least since 2001 or
2002," said the blog.
Nack said that in the summer with people going on holiday at
different times, business is disrupted. "It's harder to make
progress when lots of your colleagues are out of the office. If
that's going to be the case, why not just schedule a break andsave
a bunch of money on facilities, security, and so forth."
