US PresidentBarack Obamais due to unveil the
findings of a majorcyber security reviewordered shortly
after he took office.
The review examines what the US federal government is doing to
protect vital computer networks amid mounting concerns about the
risk of cyber attack.
Barack Obama will lay out US goals for dealing with cyber
threats and call for an education campaign to raise public
awareness.
But Obama is not expected to announce who will be appointed
"cyber czar" to oversee the initiative to prioritise national
digital security, according to the
Brisbane Times.
Many in US see the role as key, but it is not yet known if the
post will report directly to the president or will have to go
through the National Security Council (NSC).
The role is widely expected to be supported by a new cyber
directorate within the NSC. It is also thought the post-holder will
collaborate with the National Economic Council.
The Obama administration has pledged to build a resilient cyber
infrastructure to protect US competitive advantage and advance
national security.
