Research in Motion has launched
Blackberry
App World, a site which allows Blackberry users to buy and
download software for their mobile devices.
Initially available in the UK, US and Canada, the site includes
software such as games, social networking, online shopping,
personal productivity and organisation tools. Research in Motion
expects 1,000 applications this week.
Enterprise software including Salesforce.com is available,
alongside Bloomberg news, MySpace, FaceBook and Windows
Messenger.
App World includes a folder called My World which allows users
to save applications they download and transfer them to new
Blackberry devices.
App World requires Blackberry device software version 4.2 and
works with smartphones that use a track ball or touch screen.
Research in Motion said some applications may not be supported by
certain mobile operators.
