Google this morning launched a preview of
Google Voice, an application that helps users manage their
voice communications.
"It is like Gmail for voicemail," said one commentator.
Google Voice will be available initially to existing users of
GrandCentral, a service
it acquired in July 2007.
GrandCentral offers users a single number to ring home, work,
and mobile phones, a central voicemail inbox that users can access
on the web, and the ability to screen calls by listening in live as
callers leave a voicemail.
Google said it would start rolling out the service to others
soon.
