Catering firm Compass Group is using software to standardise the
whole purchasing process and reduce its own costs by helping
suppliers reduce theirs.
The company is using the e-procurement platform from
BravoSolution, which it
expects to pay for itself in a matter of months through cost
savings.
Richard Page, international purchasing director for food, at
Compass Group, said because of the economic slowdown, the company
needs to improve its purchasing process.
"It is essential that our purchasing teams deliver the best
possible results in a transparent, ethical and measured way," he
said. "Although we have already utilised e-auction facilities as a
negotiating tactic for a number of years now, BravoSolution will
help take us move to the next level of e-procurement and develop
end-to-end procurement procedures."
The company's international purchasing team will use the
BravoSolution platform at its head office and it will also
introduce the same system and procedures to its purchasing teams
across Europe.
Compass expects to lower the cost of supplies though making the
process easier for suppliers.
"[The system] will allow suppliers to have a greater insight and
easier access into the Compass Group purchasing environment. Many
suppliers are already familiar in working with e-procurement
systems, and we are hoping to reduce suppliers' own costs in
certain categories," said Page. "[Cost reductions for us] will be
achieved by reducing suppliers' own costs in certain
categories."
