Big increase in smartphone Wi-Fi use

Western Europe has seen a big rise in smartphone users accessing the internet over Wi-Fi networks, with connections rising 132% in the last 12 months.
Mobile advertising researcher AdMob says there were 550 million smartphone Wi-Fi requests in Western Europe last month, a 132% increase year-on-year.
Spain and Italy saw the biggest increases, said AdMob. On a worldwide basis, the Wi-Fi requests from Apple smartphone devices grew 28% year-on-year to 1.2 billion requests in January.
