The Kaspersky IT security firm says the
weekend hacking of its US website that exposed a database of
customers does not affect the UK.
"The US website infrastructure is hosted and operated
independently therefore, the breach was confined to the US only,"
Kaspersky said in a statement.
A vulnerability was detected on a subsection of the
usa.kaspersky.com domain when a hacker attempted an attack on the
site at the weekend, but immediate action had been taken to
eliminate the risk, the statement said.
According to the company the weekend attack was not intended to
be malicious and no data was exploited.
A
posting on Hackers Blog said a hacker had been able to access
Kaspersky's databases, but a
later posting said the attack was aimed at highlighting the
site's security vulnerability.
