Former MySQL CEO Marten Mickos is leaving Sun Microsystems. He
is the third senior MySQL executive to leave since Sun's
acquisition of the open source database company.
Mickos became senior vice-president of Sun's database group
after last year's acquisition.
MySQL creator Michael "Monty" Widenius
said in a blog last
week that he was leaving. His departure came after dissatisfaction
over the way he said Sun was managing MySQL development.
MySQL co-founder David Axmark left the firm last year. Mickos
has been replaced by Sun executive Karen Tegan Padir.
Padir is now vice-president of the new MySQL and Software
Infrastructure Group, which includes identity management, service
oriented architecture (SOA), and Java enterprise development.
Sun said MySQL development will now be more closely integrated
with its other technologies.
