UK business areto seek clarification on the role of the
newly-formed
Police Central e-crime Unit (PCeU) in a meeting later this
month.
Members of business IT user group,
The Corporate IT Forum, will quiz the PCeU on the unit's
funding, remit and powers at a meeting inReading on 24
February.
The meeting is open to heads of information security at big
business organisations.
The session is aimed at increasing engagement between business
and the PCeU as well as providing feedback on business concerns and
initiatives around cyber crime.
David Roberts, chief executive of The Corporate IT Forum, said
the association's membership welcome the formation of the PCeU to
help fight cyber crime.
"We are delighted to have been given the first opportunity to
feedback collectively to [the PCeU] and look forward to forging a
constructive relationship," he said.
Roberts said the threat of cyber crime can be tackled only
through the collaborative effort of all stakeholders.
"We hope the meeting will result in a formation of a framework
for that collaboration in future," he said.
Government announced just over £7m for the (PCeU) in September
2008, but UK business has
expressed concern that this will be inadequate to tackle the
cyber threat.
