Despite the grim economic times, it would seem that
mobile broadband is bucking the
trend and further evidence of this
comes with Orange broadening its mobile broadband
portfolio.
The telecoms operator is to support mobile broadband for laptops
from HP Compaq and Toshiba with connectivity supported by a new
mobile broadband dongle from Huawei.
Available on 24 month contracts, the two new laptop offers are
designed, says Orange, to allow consumers to choose a device that
suit their needs, whilst still getting the great benefits of
internet access - without the need to pay the full price
upfront.
For £30 per month is the 1 Kg
HP Compaq Mini 700 10.1-inch laptop which is based on and Intel
Atom processor and comes equipped with a 60 Gbyte drive, 802.11 B/G
WLAN connectivity, a 92% full size keyboard and integrated
webcam.
For £5 per month extra, Orange is offering the
Toshiba L300 which features a 15.4-inch widescreen display, 160
Gbytes of storage capacity, a DVD player/recorder, integrated web
cam and weighs less than 2.5 kg.
Both the HP Compaq Mini 700 and the Toshiba L300 are packaged
with Orange’s ‘Internet Everywhere’ mobile broadband service and
dongle, as well as a GByte monthly data allowance and 24 month
manufacturer warranty.
Available in black, white and pink, the Huawei E160e dongle that
supplies the laptops’ mobile broadband is also offered in
conjunction with Internet Everywhere and has been designed to act
also as a memory stick with space for up to 8 Bytes via a micro SD
card. The UK data allowance is 3 Gbytes and there is support for up
