A teenager murdered a man just hours after posting on his
Facebook page "I feel like killin some1".
Leon Crain Ramsden, 19, wrote on his Facebook wall on the
evening of July 12 last year, "I'm twisted at home. My head's up my
a***. I feel like killin some1 need 2 stay off the strong stuff ha
f*** it. It's Saturday ha."
Ramsden, of Turnstone Road, Bolton, later stabbed 31-year-old
Paul Gilligan to death in the Pepper Alley Club in Bolton. He was
arrested later that night, after security staff at another club
found an empty knife sheaf on him and alerted police.
Paul, a father of three, had been speaking to Ramsden before the
attack. They had been involved in a "playful fight" where Paul
rubbed Ramden's hair in front of people.
A statement from Greater Manchester Police said Ramsden took
offence to this, walked away, armed himself with the knife and
returned to stab Paul once in his left shoulder and once in the
left side of his chest. The 31-year-old from Bolton died later from
a stab wound to the heart.
Ramsden was sentenced to life imprisonment today at Manchester
Crown Court and ordered to serve a minimum of 17 years.
Detective chief inspector Mark Roters, deputy senior
investigating officer of Greater Manchester Police's major
investigation tea,m said, "Ramsden is a pathetic individual who
believed he had been slighted by Paul in front of a crowd of
people. As revenge for this, Ramsden killed him.
"This was a needless and extremely violent attack that resulted
in the death of a father-of-three."
The incident is the latest in a
string of crimes linked to Facebook postings and updates.
