A man has been found guilty of murdering his wife after
becoming enraged that she had changed her Facebook status to
"single".
Edward Richardson, 41, of Biddulph, Staffs was found guilty of
stabbing his estranged wife Sarah Richardson to death.

He killed the 26-year-old hairdresser at her parents' home in
Brown Lees, Staffs last May, after she changed her Facebook status
to "single".
Richardson had tried to kill himself after the attack. He was
sentenced to life with a minimum of 17 years in prison.
Fiona Cortese, of the Crown Prosecution Service, said,
"Richardson became enraged when Sarah changed her marital status on
Facebook to single and decided to go and see her as she was not
responding to his messages.
"He gained entry by breaking the front door window of her
parents' house and made his way into the property."
Last year in Barnsley, South Yorkshire,
a man murdered his wife and then killed himself after she told
visitors to her Facebook page that she was splitting up with
him.
Another man from Croydon, Surrey was jailed for life last
October
after
murdering his wife when she changed her Facebook status to
"single" days after he left their home.
