AstraZeneca has signed a five-year multi-million pound
outsourcing deal with Infosys Technologies for application support.
UK and Swedish IT staff at AstraZeneca will move to Infosys under
the contract
Infosys Technologies will provide end-to-end application
maintenance services to AstraZeneca's global operations in areas
including manufacturing, supply chain, finance, human resources and
other corporate functions. The deal is a part of AstraZeneca's
transformation initiative to improve its operational
efficiency.
Infosys is delivering the services through a global
shared-services model using a fixed price payment model.
AstraZeneca recently signed a
seven-year £736m global outsourcing deal with IBM, which is
believed to be the first of its kind for the pharmaceutical
industry. AstraZeneca has retained control of its IT strategy under
the contract.
