Google has taken itsChrome browserout of beta even though
it still contains bugs.
The
move was floated by Google at a trade show earlier this month,
but Google did not put a date on Chrome becoming a "ready"
product.
Google said, "Since we first released Google Chrome, the
development team has been hard at work improving the stability and
overall performance of the browser. In just 100 days, we have
reached more than 10 million active users and released 14 updates
to the product. We are excited to announce that with the fifteenth
release we are taking off the 'beta' label."
Google said it had made great progress in solving video and
audio glitches during the beta period. It also said the browser was
now much faster than earlier versions.
But Chrome still contains bugs. Google recently issued an update
to enable Hotmail users to read their e-mail.
Google said, "We have removed the beta label as our goals for
stability and performance have been met, but our work is far from
done.
"If you are already using Google Chrome, the update system
ensures that you get the latest bug fixes and security patches, so
you will get the newest version automatically in the next few
days."
