The UK retains a strong presence on the European software stage,
according to a PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC)
report.
PwC has ranked the top European software companies, and British
firms make up 15% of the top 100, based on worldwide revenue.
With worldwide revenue of €13.3bn, these UK companies created
significantly more wealth than their Western European counterparts,
said PWC.
The German and French software companies that featured in the
EuroSoftware100 generated €4.3bn and €1.2bn respectively.
In 2008, the European market represented around 30% of the
overall worldwide software market, generating revenues of
approximately €56bn.
The world market is led by US and Japanese firms.
