Nokia has launched its latest smartphone, the
N97, which
incorporates a 3.5" touch screen display with a QWERTY keyboard and
Web 2.0 features for social networking. The launch took place at
Nokia World
08.
The phone offers a feature Nokia describes as ‘social location’.
Here, the integrated GPS sensor and an electronic compass, enables
the N97 mobile to understand where it is. According to Nokia, this
makes it possible for users to tell their friends exactly where
they are by updating social networks automatically with real-time
geographical information.
Nokia claims the N97 can be used for browsing the web, streaming
Flash videos or playing games. Equipped with both a physical QWERTY
keyboard and virtual touch input the phone allows for efficiency in
blogging, chatting, posting, sending texts or emailing, the company
said.
The N97 device also has a 5-Megapixel camera and wide-screen
video capture and playback. It supports both HSDPA and WLAN network
access.
