A teacher has been found guilty of professional misconduct for
spending up to four hours a day on sites including
Facebook.
Sian Mediana, 40, spent four hours a day on eBay, checking her
bank account and looking at Facebook.
She denied the charges after resigning from Fairwater Primary
School in Cardiff, saying she only used the internet occasionally,
the Daily Telegraph reported. She also claimed it must have been
children, her teaching assistants or other staff visiting the
sites.
But the General Teaching Council for Wales accepted evidence
from two teaching assistants who said she used the internet for
personal reasons during school hours.
Cardiff Council sent an IT expert into the school to investigate
sites visited. They included Virgin Atlantic, Lloyds TSB, Credit
Expert, Travel Supermarket, Easyjet and Flightline.
