A chief integrator has been appointed for the London 2012
Olympics Games.
Michele Hyron will be in charge of integration and operation of
the IT supporting the games. She will lead a consortium of partners
in designing, building and operating the Olympics IT infrastructure
and systems.
She replaces
Jeremy Hore, who was in charge of the Beijing Games.
Hyron works for Atos Origin, which leads the consortium of
suppliers. The company has
overseen the IT of several Olympics. Hyron will lead a 3,000
strong IT team in the run up to the games.
The IT systems provided will process the accreditation badges of
250,000 people involved with the event, manage staffing rotas, and
deliver results of the games in less than a second.
Jean-Benoît Gauthier, technology director of the International
Olympic Committee, said, "The success of each Olympic Games relies
and depends on knowledge and experience being transferred from
previous games to help keep costs down and to lower risk, so we are
delighted that Michèle, who has almost 10 years of Olympic Games
experience, is leading the technology team for London 2012."
