The back-office IT of the Daily Mail and the Independent could
be merged in a cost-cutting exercise.
Daily Mail publisher
DMGT (Daily Mail and General Trust) cut 400 jobs recently in a
bid to help cut £100m of costs, after a 9% fall in full-year
pre-tax profits to £262m.
The Daily Telegraph reported that Independent News had been in
touch with the group. The pair could look at merging human
resources, IT, finance and accounting departments.
Both publishers have seen a slump in advertising revenues.
