Financial services giant Citi is looking for a new CIO after
Robin Young announced his resignation after 18 months in the
role.
Young's role has involved the
integration of UK internet bank Egg, which Citi acquired in
January last year.
Young's deputy will now take charge of the technology division
at the firm.
Citi said this is only a temporary measure. "Following Robin's
departure, the technology division will be supervised by his deputy
Roy Aston in the interim period whilst we look for a new head of
the department."
Chris Skinner,
CEO at financial services think-tank Balatro, said because Citi
is one of the largest banks in the world it would make an
attractive challenge for IT executives at mid-sized banks. "But the
average tenure of a CIO at a large bank is 18 months so will they
be willing put their necks on the line?"
He said the firm could look outside the financial service sector
for a replacement. "It could go for someone in the telco sector to
take advantage of the current increase in mobile technology in
banking."
