Hewlett-Packard is joining the race to carve out a valuable
slice of the advanced
smartphone market with two new devices sold via Vodafone in the
UK.
HP's iPAQ Data Messenger and Voice Messenger phones will do
battle against the likes of Apple's iPhone and the Blackberry Storm
handset equipped with its "clickable" touchscreen.
The HP iPAQ Data Messenger has a full sliding QWERTY keyboard
and a 2.8in touchsceen. The iPAQ Voice messenger also has a 2.4in
screen but no touchscreen.
As the latter's name suggests, this device is aimed at users who
still tend to rely on voice comms more than data services like
composing mobile e-mail and texting.
Both devices are equipped with HSPA, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth data
services and are powered by Windows Mobile 6.1.
They are also equipped with a decent 3.1 megapixel camera.
