Professional services firm KPMG has succeeded in attracting potential recruits through a jobs fair on theSecond Life virtual world.

The online fair allowed the company to meet more people and carry out more activities with them than a traditional jobs fair, said Alison Heron, senior manager of recruitment marketing at KPMG.

The event, organised by recruitment company TMP Worldwide last month, was attended by Royal Bank of Scotland and Yell UK, as well as KPMG.

Heron said the company took part in the event to assess the potential of virtual worlds as a recruitment tool that could reach a wider audience.

"The event confirmed to us that there are lot of people using these sites that are interested in finding out more information through different means," she said.
