Google is offering firms a managed e-mail archiving service
that will cover messages for up to ten years.
Google said the offer would help firms cope with
data compliance demands and speed e-mail access
requirements.
As part of the move, Google has simplified the pricing of its
hosted
e-mail security and archiving package Google Message
Discovery.
For a flat fee of around £26 per user per year, firms can now
add hosted archiving with the ability to retain messages for up to
10 years, along with spam and virus filtering.
The service is powered by the technology Google acquired when it
bought Postini last year.
"When the total cost of an on-premise security and archiving
system is taken into account, keeping e-mail over the course of
seven years can cost more than £120 per user per year. Taking
advantage of Google's economies of scale, you can achieve the same
objectives for only about £26 per user per year," said Google in an
enterprise blog.
