German chemicals maker BASF has standardised on BT Global Services for its world-wide network needs with the signing of a contract for wide-area data network in the Asia-Pacific region.

The contract covers 17 countries with 234 sites in the Asia-Pacific region. BT now links over 750 BASF sites in 80 countries.

BASF staff access a harmonised network platform based on the Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) standard in all 80 connected countries.

BASF is also using BT's IP-based MPLS network to transmit voice calls and video data between locations. Some use encryption for higher data security, the firms said in a joint statement.
