IT trade association Intellect has announced the finalists for
this year's
Local Government IT Excellence Awards.
The City of York Council, Stockport Council,
Hampshire County Council, Northern Ireland Civil Service,
Wakefield Metropolitan District Council and Mid Sussex District
Council all made the shortlist for the
Local Government IT Excellence Awards.
The projects range from
Northern Ireland's shared services centre, providing common IT
services to 11 departments, to Hampshire's recruitment portal,
which gives 12 local authorities one way of managing
recruitment.
Stockport Council's project
provides young
people with an online counselling service via Kooth.com, while
York's service transformation project, called easy@york, saved
the council £250,000 in its first financial year.
The awards are run by
Intellect, The Society of Information Technology Management
(Socitm) and Solace and the winner will be announced at Socitm's
annual conference next month.
The competition has been running for 13 years. It seeks to
highlight and reward local authorities that have used IT to improve
services.
