Hewlett-Packard has spelt out its
plans to redeploy staff from EDS, the
IT services company it bought in August for £6bn.
This week
Hewlett-Packard (HP) said it will make 24,600 staff redundant
over three years, 1,500 from the UK.
Tom Hogan,
HP's senior vice-president of software, said HP will combine
all consulting and integration operations with its software branch
in a unit called HP Software and Solutions.
Robin Purohit will run HP Software and Solutions. He will also
replace Ben Horowitz as head of business technology optimisation
(BTO).
A spokesman for HP UK confirmed the plans, adding: "Clarity
around the UK business will take time, with the European Workers'
Council meeting next week."
The company will also create a communications and media
solutions unit, combining its communications, media and
entertainment branch with its OpenCall operation. Former Alcatel
executive Erwan
Menard will run it.
Some staff will join HP's lifecycle management programme,
rebranded as service and support. It will be led by HP UK's
Andy Isherwood, currently vice-president of support and
services at HP Software.
Those left will join the company's Neoview operation to form a
branch known as HP Business Intelligence Solutions and headed by
Christina Robinson, former vice-president of sales and consulting
for HP's imaging and printing group.
