KPMG is to hold a 48 hour
virtual world job fair at the end of the month.
Experienced professionals, recent and prospective college
graduates, and others interested in career opportunities with the
KPMG network of professional firms can participate in the 24-26
September event.
The "KPMG World Jobs Fair" takes place online from 9am GMT
Wednesday 24 September to 9am on Friday 26 September. It aims to
provide qualified, interested candidates with information on
hundreds of job opportunities, particularly in tax, advisory and
specialised audit services, with KPMG member firms worldwide.
More than 10,000 interested applicants have already registered
for the online event through KPMG's
global website.
During the event,
KPMG's first external virtual job fair, participants will have
the opportunity to chat with KPMG recruiters and network with KPMG
professionals, particularly in high growth markets where KPMG
expects to substantially expand its operations over the next
several years.
"As an increasing number of companies conduct business
internationally, there are growing opportunities for professionals
in many KPMG member firms, especially in emerging markets such as
Brazil, Russia, India and China," said Timothy Flynn, KPMG
chairman.
"We are also focused on adding thousands of jobs to support KPMG
member firms' continued growth in developed markets, such as the US
and Europe," he said.
Keith Dugdale, KPMG director of global recruitment, said,
"Whilst the credit crunch is clearly having a big impact on job
opportunities in the developed economies of the West, many of our
KPMG member firms across the globe continue to experience double
digit growth, and have a huge need for experienced
professionals."
Unisfair is providing the technology KPMG is using to power its
virtual career fair event.
Virtual world Second Life has previously hosted virtual
recruitment fairs, and KPMG has used the Second Life platform to
hire recruits too.
