Strathclyde Partnership for
Transport (SPT) has signed a three-year managed networking
contract with Carillion IT Services.
Carillion will provide a fully managed service for SPT's comms
network, including landline phones, mobile devices and 24/7 remote
monitoring of its wide area network.
Carillion will deliver the managed service to more than 700
employees at SPT's head office in Glasgow and key transport hubs in
and around the city, including the central Glasgow bus station,
subway depot and several underground stations.
Carillion will take over the management of all SPT's current
network providers, inclulding Orange for mobile devices and Thus,
BT and NTL for landlines and the Wan.
All user queries will go through the Carillion IT servicedesk
and a dedicated team of voice and data management experts.
Carillion will also be responsible for SPT's telecoms billing,
providing a single unified bill for its entire comms estate.
Carillion will continually monitor it is obtaining the best
possible rates for SPT.

SPT's IT and communications systems," said Dean Drew, senior
technical solutions advisor at SPT.
