RIM has announced a slew of third-party integrated service deals
for its BlackBerry smartphones, sharpening their ability to compete
against Apple's iPhone.
BlackBerry users will now be offered integrated services such as
Microsoft Live
Search,
MySpace, TV
programming service
TiVo,
Ticketmaster,
and music library
Slacker.
The Microsoft Live Search deal will give users location-based
search results according to where they are using the device.
As well as these service deals, BlackBerry users will be offered
Google Apps optimised for their devices, and instant messaging from
AOL.
Last year, RIM launched an integrated Facebook application, and
it says this has proved popular.
RIM hopes the new integrated services will help its products
against the emerging Apple iPhone, which is marketed as a quick way
to access integrated web services.
